Mission of the Wooden Boat Foundation
To celebrate, support, promote and preserve maritime heritage, skills and culture through education and participation.Purpose builds on the original (1978) charter
The purpose of the Wooden Boat Foundation is to celebrate and preserve traditional maritime skills, heritage and culture through:
- presentation of educational events, regattas, workshops and seminars about wooden boats
- production of the annual Wooden Boat Festival
- supporting the physical restoration of wooden boats, including the documentation and learning opportunities involved with the restoration projects
- promoting and supporting the education of apprentices to the wooden boat trade and
- providing scholarships and funding assistance to nonprofit organizations that further the mission of the WBF
