David B

United States
Vessel description
Built by the Lake Washington shipyard for Libby, McNeil & Libby for use as a tender and "monkeyboat," her main use was towing the sailing 32s to the fishing grounds in Bristol Bay, Alaska. The David B served in Bristol Bay from the 1930s to 1965, when she was pulled from the water and put on the beach with two other boats. As time went by, the river changed course, leaving the boats stranded. While on the beach, locals would come and start the David B's Washington-Estep engine each 4th of July. The David B and two of her sister ships were offered for sale in 1981, and David B was sold. Two sister-ships were burned on the beach, and the David B was pulled overland to the water and taken to Seattle. In 1988, the David B was sold to Jeremy Snapp and moved to Lopez Island until 1998, when she was bought by current owners Capt. Jeffrey and Christine Smith and Aaron Mynatt of Bellingham.
