The history of festival art:
Since 1977, original art has been created to commemorate the annual Port Townsend Wooden Boat Festival event on clothing & posters. The art has ranged from woodblock prints to fine art paintings. Your art becomes part of Wooden Boat Foundation history.
2010 Art Theme & Content: "Tools, Tales & Tradewinds'"
Inventions and exploration have always been a key part of boatbuilding and the draw to the sea. Tools illustrate invention on land. Tradewinds illustrate discovery at sea. Submissions must include a boat or boats, a tool and something to capture the essence of the winds. Work can be abstract, realistic, carved or sewn. Paintings, drawings and woodblock prints preferred. Fine art photography will be considered.
How the art is used: As a strong graphic image . Art is used for posters, clothing, advertising and branding.
Who can submit: Anyone! Local, western US or Canada, including past festival artists.
What to submit:
1. Submit 1-3 sketches or finished work specific to 2010 theme
2. Submit 3-5 examples (or your website) of your work. Include bio, especially your wooden boat inspirations.
How & Where to Submit:
1. Digital images by email should be sent to: festival@woodenboat.org.
2. CDs or artwork should be mailed or delivered to WBF, attn: Kaci Cronkhite, Cupola House, 380 Jefferson Street or WBF Library, 2nd floor of Heritage Building, NWMC & WBF, 431 Water Street, Port Townsend, WA 98368. M-F 9:00am-5:00pm.
3. All submissions must include your name and contact info.

When? Deadline is December 1, 2009
Announcement of selection will be December 4. Finished art due February 1.
Compensation: $1500 for final art. Note: Festival Art and all rights to use the art become the property of Wooden Boat Foundation and artist must be present for poster signing at 2010 Wooden Boat Festival, September 10-12.
